On 24 October, 2006, Bhaai Dooj concludes the festival of Diwali. A Brother's long life and prosperity is asked for by a sister with gift.

The ritual related to the festivity of Bhai Phota is pre-dominant in every Hindu family. The sister decorates the thali with pooja accessories such as coconut, rice, sweets, ayurvedic herbs, vermilion and sandalwood paste, ghee, kumkum or sindoor or kasturi and turmeric, oil lamp and incense sticks. She the smears tikka on the forehead of the brother and presents sweets and fruits prayerfully. Gifts are exchanged by both brother and sister on this day. Sweetmeat hampers, pooja thalis, chocolates, assorted dry fruits, greetings cards are common during this celebration. In the corporate world on bhau beej, gifts are labeled with corporate name and logo and have promotional purposes.
