Ganesh Chaturthi or Vinayak Chaturthi, a celebration for devotees from different parts of India. On 27th August, 2006 4th day of the fortnight in Bhadrapad, this festival.
The worship lasts from 2 to 10 days. The ritual includes the idol bathed with milk, curd, ghee, honey and jaggery (panchamrit). Modak or modagam and karanjis form the fundamental sweet dish offered to Lord Ganesh or Siddhivinayak. Sweets are also exchanged among the devotees. This festival is one of the celebrated events among the Hindus in India and the world. Gifts like Ganesh or Vakratunda idols and calendars, sweets, dry fruits, pooja accessories are common.
