Night of prosperity! On the full moon night of Ashwin (September/October, Goddess Laxmi descends on earth and showers wealth and prosperity on those that are awake. This auspicious night of October 6, 2006 is also known as Sharad Purnima. The term "who is awake" means Kojagra. Some myths are related to this event. This festival is celebrated by not sleeping at night. Oil lamps are lit through out the full moon night. Flowers, sweets, clothes and jewelry form an integral part on this occasion. People exchange sweets, flower hampers, idols and posters of Goddess Laxmi. Greetings cards are also exchanged. The corporate sector gifts for promotional purposes on this occasion.
