Lohri and the next day of Lohri known as Maghi are festivals that mark the harvesting of the winter (Rabi) crop on 13th of January every year. This day also signifies the earth coming out of Dakshinayan and the Paush month of Hindu calendar. The earth enters the new month of Magh and turns towards the sun (Uttarayan). This festival is predominantly celebrated in north India. Punjabis sing in honor of Dulha Bhatti. People gather around a bonfire, throw puffed rice and popcorn and pray to the God of fire known as Agni, for abundance and prosperity. With the exchange of greetings and gifts, a blessed eatable known as prasad made of til, gajak, jaggery, peanuts and popcorn, accompany the bonfire ritual. The corporate sector can gift a Lohri gift for promotional purposes.
