Bond of love and trust. / A protective strand.
A sacred ritual performed in August-Shravan Purnima, especially between the sisters and brothers. On 9th August arrives this auspicious occasion. Sachi or Indrani tied a thread on husband Indra's wrist, when he went to fight the demon Brutra. There are many mythological tales that speak of the ceremony for expressing love, trust and protection.
Raksha=protection; Bandhan=thread. A brother is obliged to safeguard her life, since the sister ties a thread. This ancient tradition of tying a thread is accompanied by other customs. The sister performs arti for her brother and prays for his long life. Brothers gift the sisters with varied gifting and gladly accept to protect them. Raksha bandhan also involves gifting the sisters. Gifting include clothes, decorative articles, cosmetics, jewelry and jewelry boxes, sweets and dry fruits. Rakhis are available in different styles, sizes and colors. Threads are available as sandalwood threads and colorful threads.
Rakhi gifts make excellent endowments in the corporate locale, during the festive season. Corporate logos are marked to personalize, Rakhi presents are also used as giveaways to promote a company.
