The birth of Lord Ram or Ramchandra the seventh incarnation of Vishnu, is the significance of this festival. On the ninth day of the first fortnight of Chaitra or Ugadi, Dashrath's wife Kaushalya gave birth to Ram. The celebration of this festival in year 2007 on the 27th of March.
